A well-installed PPF job is nearly invisible, with edges wrapped or precision-cut to sit flush against the panel. The film itself is durable, but the edges are the one spot where small issues can start if they're not looked after.
What lifting looks like — and why it matters
A small amount of edge lifting can let wash chemicals, road grime or moisture get underneath the film. Left alone, that trapped contamination can spread and eventually stain the paint underneath rather than just the film. Catching it early is a five-minute fix instead of a bigger one.
Wash habits matter more at the edges
Automatic car washes with stiff brushes are the most common cause of edge lifting after installation. A hand wash or touchless wash, working with the direction of the panel rather than against an edge, keeps film edges intact for years.
When to bring it in
